Can Vaping CBD Help You Quit Smoking?

According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, only 6% of smokers are able to quit every year. Nicotine is the primary culprit in this, as the dopamine that is released when smoking rewires the brain to not only crave it but ultimately depend on it. Quitting cold turkey is possible, but very unlikely. Many have found relief by resorting to options that contain a smaller amount of nicotine, such as a patch or a Juul. However, as we have discussed before, options such as Juul are still not a good choice as they still contain a good amount of nicotine.

With that being said, is there any way vaping CBD can help you quit smoking? One study shows it indeed can, let’s jump into the specifics.

The Study

This study, done by Dr. CJ Morgan of the University College of London, set out to find if CBD can lead to an easier road to quitting. Published in 2013, a group of 24 smokers was given an inhaler and given instructions to use it when they felt the urge to smoke.

Half of the inhalers contained CBD while the others were just a placebo, as the participants did not know the contents of what they were given. One important note to keep in mind: the subjects were still able to smoke whenever they wanted but needed to use the inhaler beforehand.

The Results

At the end of the study, results showed that of the 12 subjects who had CBD in their inhalers, 40% of them reported a significant decrease in their desire to smoke cigarettes. This is obviously a huge finding, especially when you consider no subjects were told how much they could or couldn’t smoke.

Given this took place over a week, one could conclude using CBD for a longer period of time will produce better results.

What This Means For Smokers

While there is not enough research to show exactly how CBD had this effect on the subjects, the results speak for themselves. We are excited to see new studies on this subject as they are published, and hope you feel the same way!

Thank you for sharing this article. Will you ever sell 800ml vape cbd liquid under the same stringent health guidelines as you do your 500 ml vape cbd liquid? I want to quit smoking and I need all the help I can get.

Hello! Great question, not sure that we will create an 800mg strength for the vape e-liquid. However, our CBD vape cartridges are stronger than the 500mg and even your suggested 800mg strength. The reason why is our CBD cartridges are 250mg strength in a 1ml container whereas the 500mg strength is in a 15ml bottle. Comparing, it’s 250mg CBD in a 1ml container vs 500mg in a 15ml container. So the cartridge is much stronger if you are looking for extra strength. Thank you for the question and please reach out if you have further questions, happy to answer anytime!
