Vaping CBD For Anxiety – Does It Work?
In the past couple of years, CBD derived from hemp has made a huge impact within the medical community. Its legality has been in question, thus the reason so many medical professionals can’t or won’t recommend CBD to their patients, regardless of its numerous benefits. However, with the recent passing of the 2018 Farm Bill, CBD will no longer be in a legal gray area and thus opening the doors for more studies on CBD for anxiety and other health issues.
CBD will still be regulated by the FDA which we understand and support. Safe use of properly sourced and tested CBD is important to us at Alternate Vape and we will always comply with any safety or quality regulations added to the existing set of FDA and GMP guidelines.
are excited to see more studies and research on CBD and anxiety. With this in mind, let’s look at what vaping CBD can do for anxiety.
What Is Anxiety
Before we talk about anxiety, let’s take a quick second to define it. Anxiety is a normal, everyday feeling that we have all experienced at one time or another. Whether you’re about to go in for your final exam, or about to plummet 200 feet in a roller coaster, anxiety itself is an inevitable part of everyday life.
However, for those who suffer from an anxiety disorder, this feeling that can pass quickly for most, end up sticking around, sometimes never leaving at all. Having this be your reality can obviously be very difficult to deal with, as it can have a major impact on your social and professional life.
How Vaping CBD Can Help with Anxiety
CBD works by interacting with your endocannabinoid system, or ECS for short. This is a biological network that runs throughout your body, with the goal to maintain homeostasis. Homeostasis means that you are both psychologically balanced and stable. Maintaining homeostasis helps regulate your mood, appetite, pain and memory functions that your body performs, including being anxious.
CB1 Receptors are found throughout your ECS. These are where endocannabinoids, such as anandamide (which causes sensations of pain, pleasure, and hunger), can be affected.
CBD and THC, THC being the substance which gets you “high”, interact with your endocannabinoid system in different ways. THC perfectly fits into the CB1 receptors. While CBD does not fit into the CB1 receptors, but other receptors found in the ECS, the result is a calm demeanor.
As there are many ways to take CBD itself, vaping CBD is by far the best choice given that the benefits can be immediately felt. This is due to the quick release of CBD in the bloodstream, which only occurs through vaping. Having this be the case, it’s easy to say that vaping is the best way to take CBD.
Study on Anxiety and CBD
The University of Sao Paulo has posted their findings on a study done to test the effect of CBD on anxiety. For the study, 24 individuals who had Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder were given a public speaking simulation. Before the mock presentation, half of the subjects were given a placebo, while the other half were given a single dose of 600mg of CBD.
After the presentation was complete, the subjects who were given the 600mg of CBD reported that they felt a lot more at ease throughout the study. Which resulted in an easier time presenting overall.
Moving Forward
While the FDA has not done any studies on CBD for anxiety, it continues to gain traction within the medical community. Like we mentioned earlier, the 2018 Farm Bill will surely lead to an era of research and studies for CBD and we surely look forward to it!
