Amazon is currently our society’s go-to for everything shopping related. Selling virtually anything that can be easily shipped, from telescopes to even candy, Amazon has almost single-handedly revolutionized how people shop. However, if there is one thing that Amazon is behind on, it’s CBD oil. Amazon has strict guidelines explaining that the sale of any product containing CBD is not allowed on their site.

Even with the 2018 Farm Bill passing, making hemp-derived CBD no longer a controlled substance, Amazon has every right to make this decision. In the wake of this, however, hundreds of scams can be found selling consumers CBD products with little to no CBD in it. Let’s dive in and explain why you shouldn’t buy CBD from Amazon.

Amazon’s Restriction on CBD Products 

Before we get into how scammers get around Amazon’s CBD ban, let’s first go over the language used in their own guidelines regarding this issue:

“Drug listings must not be for controlled substances or products containing controlled substances, such as: 

1. Products containing cannabidiol (CBD), a Schedule I Controlled Substance, including but not limited to: 
   1. Rich Hemp Oil containing cannabidiol (CBD)
2. Products that have been identified as containing CBD”

After reading through this, it is plain and obvious that CBD is not allowed on Amazon.

When you type in ” CBD” on Amazon, hundreds of products show up. However, the products that are listed do not have any CBD content at all. If they did, they would not be allowed on Amazon in the first place.

Many of these products have “Hemp Oil” in the title to trick consumers. With no enforced third-party testing regulations, companies can be just slapping on a misleading label on regular old hemp oil (which does not include CBD). This is one of the major points of confusion for customers. However, hemp oil and CBD oil are not the same, even though they come from the same plant.

How Fake CBD Is Ruining The Industry

When it comes to the CBD Industry, the lack of involvement from the FDA has resulted in many companies selling products having much less CBD content than what is advertised. What’s more, many times these products not only DO NOT contain much CBD content, but they are also full of pesticides, toxins and other contaminants.

This is bad for our industry because many people will think since a product is on Amazon it can be trusted. Thus, purchasing a product which will never work. This person now believes CBD oil doesn’t work and likely tells their friends and family not to try it. Lucky for us, the CBD oil industry is a tight-knit community. We don’t look very kindly on imposters and will team up to expose them not IF, but when necessary. Look out!

The Importance Of Lab Test Results

Before buying any CBD products online, or even in person, it is important to be confident in the knowledge of what is in the product itself. Even with all of this being said, there are ways companies can fake COAs. We recommend doing your own research in this situation, the last thing we want to see is people being scammed. So be sure to request lab results when buying CBD.

Be sure to keep in mind that there are many bogus companies in the CBD industry. This will, unfortunately, be a problem until the FDA starts regulating like in other medical industries.
